Designed by Alexandre Moronnoz CRAC Side Table is much more then functional and beautiful, it has a message, a cause. As the designer explains further on: “the project functions like a sign or an omen. It features the paradox of the non-used, or even non usable, useful object and the ecological breakdowns incurred. The primary resources for manufacturing products are being consumed. The deforestation taking place in certain forests highlights, more than the unbridled consumption of objects, this irrepressible desire for consumption“.
The rectangular volume of the table comes with a unique design, trying to describe a piece of wood that has been ripped of another. Mocoloco stated that the project was accomplished with the help of trips of ash glued together with “unfinished” raw ends, that resemble jagged sides of a broken tree. As the Army of Melting Man, realized by Nele Azvedo, more and more pieces of art, architecture and design are revealing themselves these days trying to touch us, to make us more sensible for the surrounding environment and the limited resources. We try to give these examples to you and promote this kind of thinking and if you have examples or something to share with us we suggest you to act and acknowledge the consequences of our actions.
