Japanese architect studio Hiroshi Nakamura and NAP Co. has taken the architecture of the religious chapel and transformed it into an organic, sculptural piece that stands out in a surreal landscape. The Spiraling Ribbon Chapel creates an unique journey, offering a continuous incredible experience for all senses. The interior space is represented by a glass shell that filters the light though the cement ribbon and offers a real spectacle dramatic and dynamic at the same time, a symbiosis of the natural and mineral, earthy and heavenly.
“The chapel is configured as a double spiral formed by two stairways. Starting from different locations, the stairways slowly spiral upward to become one—a device symbolic of the bride and groom’s path of marriage and formal union as one.”
The road itself leading to this sculpture wraps and transforms into the construction itself in a dramatic way.
