“House H” – Elegant Composition of Concrete & Glass Around Sunken Garden

House H” Elegant Composition of Concrete Steel Around Sunken Garden 4

Concrete, wood, steel and glass. Four elements shaping an extraordinary composition, a volume that serves as refuge to one happy family. The home resides on a 1000 square-meter lot nearby a busy road near Lima, Peru, lot from which it captures expansive views.

The home entitled House H by OZ Arq is the described by its authors : “The project developed as an architecture that analyses and recognizes the context, generates paths and handles an extensive program while keeping as much open space for landscape as possible.”

Towards the street the facade closes up, protecting the interior from noise and pollution while the back facade opens up completely towards the garden, communicating with the swimming pool and splendid hills beyond.

The mansion is structured on three levels and thanks to a beautifully balanced ratio between concrete, steel, glass and wood the spaces are highly diverse.

“The study, play room parking, and service area were built underground, while on the ground floor the living room, dinning, kitchen and office open up in search of views of the landscape. On the second floor of the house you find the private spaces around a family room, controlling the views and maintaining its privacy.” A striking element of the design is a sunken garden, a natural lighting source for the underground studio and living areas. To make things even more interesting, the architects decided to provide access to the main entrance via a bridge situated over this sunken yard. [Photography by Juan Solano]
