Hidden in a suburb of Lima, Peru lies ‘House in la Encantada’, a simple geometrical form created in a minimalist style. This modern mansion was designed and completed by Peruvian practice Artadi Arquitectos. Due to its location in an sub-urban area, the architects have searched for a way to accentuate the relationship between the building itself and the indoor proposed garden.
The form is composed of two intersecting volumes in which the space is organized and put in a line .The dominant form is in the shape of a white box in which the private bedroom spaces upstairs and living area downstairs are hidden. The circulation was compressed in the second smaller volume that wraps in a “L” shape structure materialized in a dark tone and that transforms itself into a veranda along the main facade. The two levels of the house are connected by that is built with a double height and goes longitudinally through the plan, resulting so a large open interior space that extends gradually out toward the exterior garden.
We consider this project as being of a sterile shape and volume, but the clean, minimal lines express an elegance and refinement that brought this particular design into our attention. And we consider it worthy of appreciation.
