This exquisite design concept was designed by Not A Number Architects for the world known jewelry brand Bulgari and an event they held in 2012 in Saadiyat al Manarat in Abu Dhabi, as a temporary pavilion that would express a modern and elegant design.
The transparent tubes installation is meant to create an environment for the event, one that represents the company and their products. The sleek white materials were cut and polished flawlessly and suggest nothing but perfection, just like gemstones are. These materials were chosen after a series of experiments; their advantage was that they come in various diameters and with enough work and design, a self supporting structure was obtained. Their overall perception resembles the shapes of giant stone or brick vaults and columns; a close image would be an interior view of the Sagrada Família Cathedral in Barcelona. The architects have achieved a very imposing and powerful structure that symbolizes power and perfection which was materialized through contemporary stylish materials. A beautiful joint of tradition and a sense of modern. Furthermore, some of the 2272 tubes contain small lights that lid up at night, creating a very inclusive atmosphere nothing short of extraordinary. This exquisite deign concept could however be used even for a restaurant, elegant pub or club as it creates a certain surreal and magic environment that draws people in and generates an appropriate socializing atmosphere. For the event that it held in 2012, it featured a private bar with live music and, limited access and, naturally, a selection of the latest, high end jewelry design by Bulgari. Overall, the architects have done a great job whilst sticking to the demands of the contractor: “audacious, unexpected, yet anchored in Bulgari’s heritage”.
