Today we`re offering you a rather unusual shape for this specific context, we are talking about a mansion in Herzlyia, Israel. It has a slightly weird, irregular form that may point you to the image of a rock. The house is realized by Sharon Neuman Architects and in a short description we could point out that the ground level has a surface of 215 square meters, and an upper floor similar in size featuring a glossy terrace to dream on and enjoy the wonderful panoramic.
The minimal apparel over all and the great shape does not seem to harm the surroundings, you can consider it a retreat; imagine a bug that stays in the shadow of a rock, this is what springs to mind when I see it. Talking about shade, the irregular shape has a great attribute in this specific design, it facilitates a very good natural light distribution throughout the entire interior space. Beside that, the garden encircling the house facilitates even further blending in the site, despite it`s unusual form.
To make it even passive for the environment the architects had to treat this home differently from the sustainable point of view, as they explain further on:
“The house is planned with energy efficiency as one of the leading goals. A number of design details are utilized, among them: efficient insulating materials, southern walls have extra thickness, Adobe blocks inserted in selected places for extra thermal mass; Also, rainwater and dew are collected and stored, water recycled where possible, and solar water heater is installed as well as a composting device.”
The interior space was designed to enhance the exterior, to which is directly connected through the large glazing’s; white stark walls are exhaling brightness along with exuberance and are meant to high-lighten the decor of small details that are describing the home`s personality and attributes.
