
Completed in 2005 in Austin, Texas, this two-story modern mansion has been envisioned by Webber + Studio, Architects. The owners passion for Balinese design and Zen Philosophy has been expressed to the architects from the very beginning, influencing the development of the residence massively. The Asian influences can be observed at first glance in the Tarrytown residence in Austin, Texas, this being a great accomplishment, offering a balance between Balinese touches and the friendly materials required for a Zen philosophy.
As you would expect for any modern mansion, there were some sacrifices with the structure, the post and beam support for the slatted roof over the entrance being a more north american design rather then an Asian one, the black stain of the pergola`s post and beams with overhead beams kept to a natural clear finish making the ensemble look Asian, leaving the structure a part .

Moreover the walkway, the very low and thin profile on the dark roof along with the natural apparel of the wood soffits and the shoji detail on the black-framed doors and windows by the Balinese influence is beautiful and unmistakable. On the second floor, in the bedroom an exotic hardwood continues, here the wall color changes from white to an amber tone, from which emerges a large breathtaking painting of Blues and Golds.
The same motif is found in the bedding as well, being introduced through the pillows; the bed is placed in a highly contemporary frame, not making use of a boxspring and offering that Zen Philosophy desired.
