A Pink Feminine Apartment by Laura Terp Hansen

Pink Feminine Apartment by Laura Terp Hansen modern touch

This apartment is situated down-town Copenhagen and belongs to Laura Terp Hansen, a 34-years old graphic designer. She used white – pink contrast as main colours for a girlish, teen and vibrant impression of the modern interior. Every corner of the room has one pink “detail”. And when we say “detail”, we’re not reporting only to pillows or other small interior objects. Appliances like a refrigerator, some wallpapers and wall stickers, a lamp and some other decorating elements are bright pink. The pure white is used to balance the color palette and to emphasize the pink elements. And so the resulting white – pink contrast made the contemporary interior design seem impressive and almost fairytale- like.

Homesthetics conclusion:

The contrast caught our attention, but, do you think she went too far? We believe she did not, still the interior has a Barbie – like scent that we honestly don’t support. Let’s take it piece by piece. The kitchen floor may have not been pink, to emphasize more the vintage toy -like refrigerator and to keep the pink colour as an accent, not as a dominant. Laura surely wanted to distinguish the 2 different spaces: the kitchen and the dining room. This intention could have been fulfilled better by using different levels for the floor, or by playing with the interior walls lines and volumes. Maybe Laura had this limitation because of her profession, which does not interact with the volumes as much as an architect. If you pay attention, her only intervention is on colour level or wall-papers.
